In the town

The shot of the cat makes me laugh :-) I was petting her and randomly snapping a shot as she was rolling on the floor to have her tummy scratched.

Colonia Sant Jordi: the beach on film

This is how the coast looked exactly in front of our hotel.
Taken with the Praktika TL 1000.

Meanwhile, 5 km away...

Spin baby spin

I now own a Lomography Spinner. And I took it out before my vacation into the forest. I learned that it is quite impossible to not look stupid in front of the camera *lol*. Best click on the shots to see them better.

I like the endless 360 view it creates though.

There'll be more shortly. But first, more Mallorca film photos.

Terry Pratchett: Wintersmith

Wintersmith (Discworld, #35)Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one was wonderful. So wise and warm and sad at times and funny and just.. wonderful. I love Tiffany. She is a great role model for girls I think.. because let's face it.. it's not just about being a with. It's about being a strong woman, isn't it? Pratchett,Sir, you are doing it right. (And You the cat meeting Greebo was just accurate. I laughed so hard at that scene.)

Jasper Fforde: The Eyre Affair

Have a book review: The Eyre AffairThe Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

It was okay. It didn't hurt reading but it'll never be one of those books that I'll pick up again. I didn't even laugh. It was supposed to be funny. But the narrator confused me (by switching from I to omniscient frequently) and I thought that whole drama between the female protagonist and Landon was way too cliche for me. Also, less would have been more for me regarding the chrono guard and the vampires and the literature aspect and.... The dodo (Pickwick?) was fun though. Him I immediately liked. But otherwise... Spike the Vampire who slays Vampires, well.. d'uh. And that Thursday immediately tells the receptionist her love-story (or lack thereof) and then calls her friend.. who does that?
Anyway. It was okay. I'm moving on.

Vacation: the beach

Day two and three...
The day started out with fog. Which wasn't bad because it looked really pretty.
After the fog cleared away, this is what we found, going in direction of the Es Trenc beach:

The water was clear and blue and cold. But I cannot be at a beach as beautiful as this and not walk barefoot. Also, we again were all by ourselves. Only occasionally did some people appear and mostly in the afternoon. But we went in the morning, because that is when the wind was less. Also, it didn't matter anymore that the town was deeply hibernating and that it wasn't full of architectural masterpieces. The beach was what we came for anyway.

Attached to the beach is a private pine wood. Out hotel however had bought the rights for its guest to go walking on the assigned paths. Pines are now amongst my favorite trees and I discovered, I feel immediately comforted when there is a forest around me. :-)

The afternoons where spent reading at the pool or writing in my diary. And I am pleased to say that it didn't even bent or get damaged by traveling in my bag.

So that was part one of the vacation report. I love Mallorca because the island has it all, from mountains to caves to beaches to cities to ... you name it. It only needs two hours flight to get there from where I live and it is cheap when you avoid the main traveling season.

Vacation: Colonia Sant Jordi / Mallorca

Hello, you lovely people.
I'm back from my vacation in Mallorca.
We stayed at the Cabo Blanco in Colonia Sant Jordi and we got what we wanted:
Calm. Good food. Wonderful service. A beautiful beach. Time to breathe and relax.

I shot 12 rolls of film, which I will hand in today and shall post photos off when I get them. So be prepared for a Mallorca pic spam.

Until then, have some shots taken with the Nikon Coolpix.

From our balcony we saw this. And I was completely taken by surprise because I didn't expect the sea to be that close. The second shot was taken in the morning but really no guests were launching in the pool area. Most of them were on walks. It was a bit chilly at first too.

As you can see, on day one, there was massive wind and the sea was wild.

The sunset was pretty though.

The next morning we went to the 'town'.  As you can see, not many people were around. Also not many shops or bars or cafes. I suppose, next month there will be more life in it. However, if you are interested in shopping or strolling through a town enjoying the local architecture, I suggest you go somewhere else. This is really made up of hotels or small shops... if they open than it.

And of of course, cats.

At the port and promenade. Still no people. But that is what I wanted, so it fit my needs perfectly.

See, it's not very pretty.
At least, not in this direction...
