endlessly

That's what happens when the diana mini doesn't work properly. The winder gets stuck, picture overlap and things happen that are wonderful.

my first tattoo

Tadaa:
this is what it looked like, after being expertly wrapped by my tattoo artist *lol*:

my verdict:
piece of cake. Yes it hurt but in the good kind of way. You know, in a defined way? I hate pain that is diffuse, throbbing and the likes. This one was clear, sharp and hot. The deal-able kind. Also it was done in 20 minutes. Now it burns a bit and I think it'll be a bit tender over the next days. But that's okay too.

I'm happy with it. Because it is a promise to my present and my future. A reminder of the best time in my life I ever had. A symbol for values (Gene Roddenberry = genius) and a reminder to be like Picard a bit more often.

This is fun.

appearently I look like Rock Hudson. *lol* And Halle Berry. But most awesome is Eliza because she kicks ass.

Anyway. Random things are random.

Tomorrow I'll get my tat. I'm so excited!!

Horses through time.

1989
This is 1989, back then, Neon colors where a must have. As you can see, I was very into pink. I was 9, I forgive myself. (The advantage to my parents: I was always easily spotted.)

My dad too the shot above, I took the following, still struggling with what is now my treasured camera.

I miss horseback riding. It is on my to do list, once I get the time.

Look at eternity.

Füssen, Bavaria
Schloss Neuschwanstein

No wonder I love middle format photography, since the first cameras I owned shot square frames. Those also remind me of Lomography.

To know the future is to experience the past

1987

I am scanning old photographs and slides. I found some I thought I'd share with you, because I think they aren't too bad for when they were taken. I was 7 when I took these two (thus the attempt at painting in the missing leg of the horse), but for some reason, the angle and structure appeals to me.

1987, Pentarex
I still take photos with that camera, as you might know. What I like about this shot is, how Barbie seems to be trampled by the horse. I supposed I didn't intend this to happen because at the age of 7 I stilled loved my Barbies. But still, it makes me laugh.

April 1988

This shows
a) that I gave Barbie's horses names
b) I was predestined to work excessively in Photoshop and Lightroom *lol*

Facebook?

Will you join me over at Facebook?  I'm still quite lonely over there.

This is better than I hoped for.

My copy arrived today and it may be small but I really love it. I think it is probably my best work so far. You can get your copy here.

Self-made: cat toy

Since my cats are so lazy they sleep all day, I made them something. The idea is not from me but from http://www.katzenfummelbrett.ch/. The side is in German, but you can still find tips from the images. You can also see, that my first attempt is rather crude (I have never been good in making three-dimensional things) but it is mainly a test run to determine whether they would play with it.

the supplies

more supplies (but in the end I didn't use PaulNewman's former home)

Leeloo is at work and Wesley observes

I admit those are a bit tiny for Wes's rather big paws. Have to fix that.

Wesley eats something out and Leeloo checks if there really is nothing left

I'm proud of my boy. Usually he takes some time to comprehend things.

I think this is a really good way to feed them some of their food. I will devise better playgrounds for them as soon as this one bores them. This is a great way to keep them occupied and it took me only 30 minutes to glue it together.

Quote love

“Even though many people seem to be not interested in art or in things like nature or life itself, we must force ourselves to remember, we must force ourselves to be deep in life."

Inspire me: Southman & Hawes

Albert Sands Southworth, um 1848
Their Daguerreotypes are breathtaking. Most people would find it hard to get a shot like this using the best studio equipment they could get their hands on. But think about the long exposure necessary to get this done. And the clarity of the picture. I wish I could do that too.

More can be found on Wiki and some extra images on flickr. I suggest a look if you are interested in photography.

Lifesign and book review

Hi,

so sorry for the lack of updates. Real life got in the way, setting up one's own business is more time consuming than I thought. Anyway, I managed and now I have to wait if I get a green light or not.

I have also done some reading:

Saving Fish from DrowningSaving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this. While reading I felt calm and completely relaxed. The characters, even though there is a confusing amount of them, were entertaining and I think the description of the tourists behavior is a very realistic one. Also, I enjoyed the humor.

messages of love

What is so fascinating with book inscriptions?

Well, if you don't know, head over to http://bookinscriptions.com/ and have a look. The project aims to "collect personal messages written in ink (or pen or marker or crayon or grape jelly) inside books. Pictures count. So do poems. So do notes on paper found in a book. The more heartfelt the better."

I have a couple of those books at home too, maybe so do you? Why not scan them and send them in? Have a look, get an inspiration for the next book you give someone as a present?

I think this project is wonderful, fun and touching. See, books are love.
